Get MitID with a Foreign Passport/ID Card

Follow these steps to obtain MitID:

Step 1: Check Your Phone, Passport/ID Card, and Get a P-code

1) Ensure your phone can scan passports.

  1. Make sure your phone's operating system is up-to-date. You can check this in your phone’s settings.

  2. Check technical requirements for your phone.

2) Check that your passport/ID card has a chip.

  1. Make sure your passport/ID card has not expired.

  2. Your passport/ID card should display this symbol (a rectangle with a circle in the center). This symbol indicates a hidden chip that MitID app can scan to verify your identity.

  3. Check here to confirm your passport/ID card meets the requirements.

If you do not have a Danish CPR number, you need a P-code.

  1. The P-code is an 8-digit code used to confirm your identity with a foreign passport/ID card.

  2. See "How to Get a P-code for MitID" below.

  3. Enter the P-code in the MitID app before confirming your identity.
